Michele Frazier Joins Municipal Leaders in Supporting Governor Hochul’s “Let Them Build” Housing Proposal
(Delhi, NY) – NYS Senate Candidate Michele Frazier (D-District 51) joined municipal leaders throughout New York in supporting Governor Hochul’s “Let Them Build” proposal to reform and accelerate the housing project approval process.
The Governor’s “Let Them Build” initiative is a smart and sensible approach to speeding development of the affordable housing our communities so desperately need. It’s a win-win initiative that will provide more housing, faster and at a lower cost, without sacrificing environmental protections,” said Frazier.
Governor Hochul’s “Let Them Build” proposal was first debuted at her 2026 State of the State Address. It’s specifically designed to streamline the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) process to expedite approval for badly needed, affordable housing projects of 100 units or less, on previously undisturbed land.
A review by New York City and New York State Homes and Community Renewal over the last five to ten years of over a thousand housing projects found that virtually none of the projects were found to have significant environmental impacts but nevertheless were still subject to lengthy reviews.
